THE ROLE OF AGRICULTURE EXTENSION TOWARD THE APPLICATION JAJAR LEGOWO 2:1 PLANTING TECHNIQUE (CASE OF GOTONG ROYONG 2 FARMERS GROUP AT KLASEMAN VILLAGE, PROBOLINGGO DISTRICT)

ABSTRACT
Agriculture Extension have an important role as agriculture development catalyst. The
government have planning a lot of programme to help agriculture extension doing their job. The
purpose of this research is to describe Gotong Royong 2 farmers group and how agriculture
extension guide Gotong Royong 2 farmers group to applied Jajar Legowo planting technique.
This research is descriptive research. Data analysist in this research using interactive method
by Miles and Huberman (1992) that consist of three steps (data reduction, data presentation,
and conclusion/verification). The result from this research known that Gotong Royong 2 farmers
group is a farmers group in Klaseman village. They doing adoption of jajar legowo 2:1 planting
technique. The chief of that farmers group is Mr. Hasyim. They have 25 members. Agriculture
extension have a crucial role toward the adoption innovation Jajar Legowo 2:1 planting
technique in that farmers group. First agriculture extension educate farmers about that planting
technique when they hold farmers meeting. Agriculture extension educate them about it
completely to make farmers understand and willing to adopt it. After that agriculture extension
guide farmers in field when they applied it, giving reward like food to farmers who applied it.
Agriculture extension actively monitoring the harvest
