ANALYSIS OF INDONESIAN COFFEE BEAN EXPORT COMPETITIVENESS IN ASEAN MARKET IN FACING ASEAN ECONOMIC COMMUNITY (AEC)

ABSTRACT
The coffee beans is one of Indonesian agricultural products which have export
potential in the ASEAN market in facing ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). This required
level of coffee bean competitiveness are increasingly free competition and tight in the ASEAN
market. The purpose of this study, are: 1) Analyze sepesialisasi trade coffee beans Indonesia
in the ASEAN market in the face of the MEA; 2) Analyze the comparative competitiveness of
Indonesian coffee beans in the ASEAN market in the face of the MEA; 3) Analyze the
competitiveness on Indonesian coffee beans in the ASEAN market in the face of the MEA.
Research methods using purposive method and method of data analysis using descriptive
analysis, while the method of processing the data using analysis ISP, RCTA, and XCI.
Indonesian coffee beans are analyzed compared with Vietnam and Thailand. The results of
this study is the average value of the ISP in the next 20 years (1994-2013) Indonesia (0.68)
and Thailand (0.19) tended as an exporter in the growth stage, while Vietnam (0.98) are in the
stage of maturity , In 1994-2013 the average value RCTA Indonesian coffee beans (1.64) and
Vietnam (7.09) which has the comparative competitiveness. In contrast to Thailand just -6.37
who do not have a comparative competitiveness. The average value of XCI Indonesia (1.16),
Vietnam (1.06), Thailand (1.48). It is that these three countries have competitiveness on the
coffee beans. Suggestion of this research is to improve the quality of Indonesian coffee beans,
but still has a selling price which is equivalent to exporting countries other coffee beans and
coffee cultivated in accordance Good Agricultural Product (GAP). In addition, Indonesia's
coffee industry must also support domestic coffee farmers to prioritize the use of local coffee
beans.
