ABSTRACT

The study is purposed to know the technology application level of natural
rubber processing and its correlation with the characteristic of innovation on
the technology. Survey method was implemented on the study in Kecamatan
Batang Alai Utara, Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Tengah. Respondents were
selected by proportional random sampling; consist of 20 lump producers, 6
slab producers, 4 sheet producer (sit angin (?)) and 23 farm latex producer.
The study finds that the technology level is categorized as medium level
(75.67%). The farmers are still using not-recommended coagulant; e.g. SP-36
and tawas (alum). The innovation characteristics, which are related to natural
rubber processing technology, are: relative advantage, compability,
complexity, observability and triability. All characteristics have significant
correlation with technology application level. Furthermore, there is a significant
difference on technology level for each processed products.
