ABSTRACT
With the increasing number of elderly population, the government has formulated various
health service policies to improve their health status and quality of life that they can live a happy old
age and their existence is still effective for their family and community. When providing health servic
to the elderly, it is important to know the social-cultural background of the community where they live
in because the social-cultural background of the community will have influence on their behavior
when they are looking for the suitable service to maintain their health.
The purpose of this survey study with cross-sectional design was to analyze the social-cultural
and socioeconomic influence of the elderly family on the use of the elderly posyandu in Puskesmas
Darussalam Medan. The populations of this study were the families having the elderly of 60 or older
than 60 years old. The total number of the elderly found was 1489 and 137 of them were selected
through systematic random sampling technique to be the sample for this study. The data for this study
were obtained through questionnaire distribution, interviews, ad documentation study. The data
obtained were analyzed through multiple logistic regression tests.
The result of multiple logistic regression test showed that the variable which had the most
significant influence o the use of the elderly posyandu in the working area of Puskesmas Darussalam
Medan was habit withor OR= 4,385
The management of Puskesmas Darussalam Medan as the basic service facility directly
facing the community is suggested to facilitate and support the activities done by the elderly posyandu
and to create a model for the elderly posyandu service which is adjusted in accordance with
